November 1st: The Veils are thin and the ancestors are near
The days around November 1st, were recognized by our ancestors across Europe as the time the season turned and the veils between this world and the next are very thin. At this time, they celebrated with festivals of gratitude for the harvest and they honored and connected with their ancestors that were nearer as the dark half of the year began. Among the Celts, for example, autumn’s harvest was brought to completion, and the doorway into the long, dark season of winter was opened through the festival of Samhain (now echoed in Halloween). The abundance of autumn gave way to the starkness of winter survival, which depended largely on knowing how to “winter.” Reconnecting with the wisdom and gifts of the ancestors was part of the soul nourishment that carried people through the dark, lean months.
It was known as a threshold time. Just as the natural world turned toward dormancy, people knew it was time to turn inward — to rest, to restore, to tend the unseen landscapes of their own souls and connect with inner widsom. They knew that winter is a time when it is easier to hear the song of the soul, for it is a liminal time, a time of simultaneous death and rebirth.
To consciously step into November is to pass through the gateway into the mysteries of Winter. Just as the Earth gathers her energy beneath the surface, we too are called inward — to rest, to gather, to descend into the deepest part of ourselves. In winter’s stillness, we can hear the quiet whispering of the soul, reconnect with our original blueprint, and gently realign with what is most true. This is what it is to “winter.”
Resilient Spirit Winter Retreat is here to offer you a sacred space to take a moment to consciously step across the threshold into Winter.
If resources are an issue, please reach out so we can find a way to make this experience possible for you.
The secret to thriving in an unraveling world is the Connection to the turning seasons

Healing Benefits of the Retreat - the art “Wintering
Rest the Nervous System: Winter teaches us stillness. By stepping out of daily noise and into quiet rhythms of breath and ritual, we learn to settle our bodies and calm the overworked mind.
Remember Belonging: Winter roots us in the truth that we are Earth in human form. In this remembering, loneliness softens and we feel our place in the greater web of life.
Release and Renew: Winter is the season of letting go. Through breathwork, meditation, and ritual, we practice releasing what has passed and clearing space for what wants to come.
Listen for Soul Guidance: In the fertile dark, when outer activity slows, the inner voice becomes clearer. Winter offers us access to our soul’s blueprint and guidance for the path ahead.
Gather Strength and Resilience: Winter shows us how to meet change with grace. By aligning with its cycles of rest and renewal, we cultivate resilience that supports us year-round.
Conserve and Restore Essence
Just as seeds and roots replenish their vital force beneath the frozen ground, winter teaches us to guard and replenish our own most precious essence. In this conservation, true vitality is renewed for the seasons ahead.
Nourish Through Connection: Winter calls us to gather close. In circle, we are reminded that community is medicine — offering support, trust, and joy as we walk the path together.
You are invited to remember how to “Winter” so that you too can be restored and renewed in the months ahead.

What People are saying about their Retreat:
I am grateful for all the joy, resilience, love, community, sharing, insights, wisdom and commitment to ourselves and others Amy brings into our hearts and to the Earth. It is such a warming, grounded experience to be with in circle with her. -Lori
As we moved through the day, I found myself feeling safe and relaxed. And after the floss breathing exercise the tension I've carried in my chest since my partner died seemed to vanish. When I notice it returning I now stop and breathe and it soon dissipates. Such a wonderful gift! -SY
Amy's retreats provide an incredibly valuable touchstone in our chaotic times. They're a chance to meet like-minded people I might not otherwise know, connect with myself in a supportive environment, and learn about the turnings of nature in a way that feels grounding. -KM
These retreats are helping me build community and feel connected to other folks who have the same or similar values and concerns. The acceptance of where we are is tempering my internal resistance and allowing me to take steps on a more spiritual and sacred path toward what I want to manifest into the world. Maybe some of that could help someone else? - SR
The retreat was a beautiful gathering of inquiring and nurturing souls. The introductions at the beginning made me aware that I am in community with others on this path and that there is room for different directions and understandings. The fire ceremony was a great closer, but also highlighted the work I want to continue to pursue and deepen my understanding. -CM
Amy's retreat will empower you with an "excuse" or motivation kinder and more compassionate, it will offer you tools and frameworks of thinking to help you navigate the difficult times that we live in. It will remind you of the values that are worth upholding (and not surprisingly, those same ones that give us meaning and fulfillment) during a time of quite rapid dissolution of value systems and networks of support. You will walk away refreshed and grounded. -PB
Growing, deepening, freeing, in a safe setting with a community of impressive people. -DF
Gathering in the safe shelter of an old barn, sharing personal vulnerabilities, learning the ancient ways of all levels of nature, sends us back into the current world, strengthened and embraced by humanity at its best. -DS
